Girls on tour: Wales pt.1

My mum was in hospital on the first day Molly and I were in Gwynedd so we met up with one of my oldest and dearest friends. We had cake for second breakfast (I had the most incredible Rhubarb pie, I'm still fantasizing about it). And then went up to Rowan's family home halfway up a mountain to join some other new and old friends for a vegan lunch in the sunshine. I could move straight into this place. Other than the fact that I have a lot of memories here, I appreciate it in a new way after years of city living.
^^ I want to move into this shed- I won't even need insulation ;)
We ended the day at the beach. I had not dressed for the swimming as it had been freezing when we got up, but Molly had a great time until the tide came in.
^^ I'd also happily spend my summers in here. From having spent nights in the one on the far left I can tell you that they are surprisingly spacious!

Life Happens.

I've been neglecting this space recently, life happens. I might catch up, but I'm not feeling particularly inspired. I have no 'plan' with this blog, other than a desire to change my domain name. There's a fan-fiction writer under the same url I do not wish to be mistaken for. I also chose teaandfairylights five years ago, I've outgrown it. It's time for a change. Suggestions on in a postcard comment please.

Molly and I were in Wales this week. I've been running a wool shop. I absolutely loved it, such a happy place. And my family got to enjoy a much needed break. Molly and I have been to various beaches, eaten wonderful bwyd cymraeg (welsh food) with good friends and explored the heart of my favourite mountain range. Molly says she 'loves tha mountains' joyously, and I agree.
My favourite place. I was proud I drove up there alone, there is not much space between the road and a big drop off the side of a mountain in places! A week and a half away from Jamie was tough. Much harder than I had anticipated. Isn't coming home wonderful? Then again so is a full tank of petrol(thanks ma), a music system that works (thanks Cesk) and a camera full of memories.. I think we need more road trips and breaks away as a three (four if I can find a dog friendly hotel).

*All of these were taken on my iphone, I'm impressed.

A little party,,

So this weekend my momma turned 60! And oh my gawd she does not look it. Lets hope we got that gene hey bro and sis ;) I don't normally mention family things too much outside of Jamie, Molly and I because I respect everyone's privacy but this is too amusing not to share. So the three of us siblings had three jobs between us. I was to make the decorations, Rhiannon was to make the cake, and James was to arrive (he is a notorious train misser). So me being last minute me, was up 'til 1.30am making decorations the night before I had to drive 150miles so you could say I failed miserably on that front. Rhiannon couldn't take the cake on the train for fear of it breaking so her fiancé had to drive it to us after the party had began (thankyou Mark!) and James missed his intended train! Jamie enjoyed pointing out what horrendous children we are- love you really mum! Anywho it worked out quite well. Turned out I made more than enough decorations and didn't fall asleep on the motorway, Mark brought Rhiannon's INCREDIBLE cake with plenty of time before it had to be brought out to sing 'Penblwydd Hapus' and it's just as well James got the later train as it meant he could get a lift with Rhiannon and the kiddies from the train station in Machynlleth. Whoo for us! Oh and Happy 60th Birthday Mama :)

Cregannan,,

I can't believe it's Tuesday already! I was meant to be working all week however Molly has had a poorly tummy for over seven days now so I'm looking after her. She's good in her spirits, the doctor said she was the liveliest child with Gastroenteritis she has ever seen! So we are snuggling in our pyjamas on a strict diet of dry toast and very dilute squash (I have to give her butter I can't bear not to!) Anywho a little later than planned and a little more photo heavy than anyone would like, welcome to my Cregannan Lake, my favourite place on earth..
We got to Dolgellau mid-afternoon on Sunday but as the sun was shining we decided to go straight up to the lake because we had a feeling the weather would turn over our visit. All I can say is that it was
as though the weather knew we were coming. The place looked GLORIOUS. There's no other way to describe it. Bright bright sunlight, and a crisp breeze from the sea. Visiting the lake is a little bittersweet for me. It's where we scattered my dad, on a rainy day seven years ago. It was the place he wanted to be. I remember sunday afternoons with him climbing the peak that rises above the lake, and being sat in the big rock slabs looking at the ocean. It really is a special place and I really truly loved sharing it with Molly and her little wellies. Please excuse my driving attire, it had been a long day and night before trying to pack everything into my little car!
(.. blame the wind for my sleazy squint, but you should see the other one I look evil!)
